Responsibilities
Tasks
- Calculate heating and cooling loads
- Design duct systems
- Manufacture and assemble different prefabricated fibreglass elements
- Manufacture and assemble in the factory the ducts for hot air heating, air conditioning and ventilation
- Manufacture and assemble water evacuation systems for buildings
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction
- Measure and mark sheet metal according to template
- Prepare tenders and quotations
- Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
- Operate laser cutters
- Utilize computerized quantity take-off
- Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces
- Schedule work
- Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification
- Operate plasma cutters
- Develop computerized pattern and layout
- Instruct apprentices
- Supervise other workers
- Cut materials using power tools or by hand
